Romano confirms Chelsea offer as Maresca makes CRUCIAL transfer decision

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea have received an opening bid from Bournemouth to sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic this summer as Enzo Maresca’s side switch their attention to trimming down their bloated squad.
Petrovic is one of five senior goalkeepers in Maresca’s squad and the 25-year-old will be allowed to leave the club despite an impressive loan spell at affiliate side Strasbourg last season, in which he won the player of the season award for the French side and also was nominated for Ligue 1’s best goalkeeper prize.

The Serbian’s performances have led to interest from many teams this summer including Sunderland, who were thought to be closing in on Petrovic’s signing last week.
However, Romano revealed that ‘nothing was done or close’ with Sunderland and Bournemouth have now submitted an official offer to Chelsea, with negotiations ongoing.
While the amount of Bournemouth’s offer has not been confirmed as of yet, Chelsea are thought to be seeking around €25 million for a player they signed in 2023 for €16m.
The player is also said to be keen on the move, with Bournemouth looking to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who returned to Chelsea after his loan spell with the Cherries and has now signed for Arsenal.

Having already spent nearly €250m on seven players this summer, Chelsea are likely to focus on outgoings after receiving interest in a number of players besides Petrovic.
Noni Madueke has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and the Gunners are in talks with Chelsea over a fee, although Romano confirmed there is still a gap in valuation between both clubs.
Christopher Nkunku is also thought to be wanted by Bayern Munich with the Frenchman having no future at Stamford Bridge, while there could be interest in Nicolas Jackson after the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.
Chelsea are expected to have another ‘bomb squad’ this summer of players who are deemed to have no future at the club such as Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi as well as the likes of Armando Broja and Joao Felix.
