EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal target Rodrigo Mora move after Club World Cup scouting trip
Arsenal and Manchester City were among the teams to send scouts to watch FC Porto wonderkid Rodrigo Mora at the 2025 Club World Cup, FootballTransfers understands.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in world football over the past 12 months and he is being tracked by a number of top European clubs.
Mora scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 35 first-team appearances last season, and his current contract at Porto, which is due to expire in 2030, includes a €70 million release clause.
FootballTransfers has been informed that both Arsenal and Man City scouted Mora during the Club World Cup, with the teenager scoring a mesmerising solo goal during Porto’s 4-4 draw with Al Ahly in their final group stage fixture.
Rodrigo Mora wanted by Premier League clubs
Manchester United have also been keen admirers of Mora for several months, and key decision-makers at Old Trafford believe he would be an excellent addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad if he is attainable for a suitable transfer fee.
However, we have been told that Arsenal are currently showing the most significant interest in the 18-year-old and they are therefore in pole position for his signature as things stand.
Mikel Arteta’s side are scouting a number of talented youngsters and Mora fits the profile of player they are aiming to sign over the next few years.
Mora, who became the youngest professional debutant in Portuguese football history back in January 2023, signed a new contract at Porto in May, however a move to one of Europe’s top clubs is on the cards due to significant interest in his services.
Arsenal are leading the race for his signature in the Premier League, amid competition from both Manchester clubs, although the teenager will also have suitors across Europe following a fantastic start to life in senior football.
