Alexander Isak to join Chelsea? Romano drops BOMBSHELL update
Chelsea are not keeping tabs on Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, despite rumours of a move for the 25-year-old.
Newcastle have insisted that Isak isn’t for sale this summer, but the 25-year-old is eager to explore his options and he is prioritising a move to Liverpool, according to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Arne Slot’s side have already completed the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt centre forward Hugo Ekitike for a transfer fee that could reach €95 million, however they remain interested in signing Isak and are willing to submit a club-record offer in order to land him.
Although Isak reportedly wants to join Liverpool this summer, Chelsea are also eyeing a potential swoop, as per The Independent and TEAMtalk.
The Blues have already signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap so far this summer, while Nicolas Jackson also remains at the club, although he has held talks with Manchester United.
Despite this, Chelsea are reportedly interested in purchasing Isak as they look to provide Enzo Maresca with a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
Alexander Isak to Chelsea?
Although Chelsea have been linked with Isak, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a move to Stamford Bridge will not take place.
He posted on X: "Chelsea not actively working on Alexander Isak deal and no interest in proceeding despite reports.
"CFC very happy with their strikers and fully focused on Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato deals now. The club working on Isak deal was, is and remains Liverpool."
Isak scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season and Liverpool have now intensified their pursuit of his signature as they eye yet another high-profile transfer.
