Manchester United have reportedly submitted an opening offer worth an initial €53.4 million (£45m) for Bryan Mbeumo as they intensify their pursuit of the Brentford forward.
Mbeumo, 25, has been identified as a priority target by the Old Trafford hierarchy and they are eager to finalise a deal amid their bid to bolster the attacking options available to Ruben Amorim.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 38 Premier League games last season, and Man Utd view him as a player capable of firing them back towards the upper echelons of English football.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed an opening offer of €53.4m, plus a further €11.8m in add-ons, has been tabled by Man Utd, although Brentford aren’t prepared to allow their talisman to depart for a fee of that ilk.
The Cameroon international only has one year remaining on his current contract at Brentford, yet the west London outfit aren’t willing to sanction a sale unless they receive a sizable transfer fee.
In fact, according to The Telegraph, their valuation of Mbeumo stands at over €70.3m (£60m).
Man Utd to sign Bryan Mbeumo?
Man Utd’s push to land Mbeumo comes after Brentford boss Thomas Frank admitted that a sale this summer could potentially be on the cards,
“I'm the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever,” Frank told Sky Sports in May. “I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he's thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don't know.
“I've said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren't selling clubs.
“So, of course, if the right price - and that's going to be expensive - is coming, then I'm sure the club will be open for it. But I'm very happy he's here, and I'm convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here.”
