Viktor Gyokeres deal ‘frozen’

Arsenal have “frozen” their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres due to Sporting CP’s current asking price, according to sensational reports in Portugal.

It is understood that Sporting were previously willing to sell Gyokeres for a fee of €70 million this summer, but Frederico Varandas, the club’s president, is reportedly now holding out for a figure closer to his €100 million release clause.

As a result, despite tracking Gyokeres for over a year, Arsenal have now “frozen” their pursuit of his signature, as per Record, as they believe the price is now too high. The Gunners have reportedly identified RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as potentially cheaper alternatives.

Nico Williams wants Barcelona move

Nico Williams has informed his Spain team-mates that he would like to join Barcelona this summer, despite significant interest from Arsenal.

While on Spain duty, Williams told Lamine Yamal, Pedri and several other Barcelona stars: “Brothers, take me back with you,” according to Sport.

Williams' agent has reportedly met with Barcelona to discuss a potential transfer, despite Joan Laporta, the Blaugrana’s president, recently admitting that a move is unlikely to happen this summer.

Phil Foden tipped to join Arsenal

Arsenal have been tipped to pursue a shock move for Manchester City superstar Phil Foden by ex-Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.

Foden endured a tricky 2024-25 campaign and with only two years remaining on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, a departure could be on the cards if he decides against signing a new deal with the club.

Arsenal are hoping to bolster their attacking options and Cascarino believes Foden would be an excellent signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Andrea Cambiaso wanted

Arsenal have identified Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso as a potential target for this summer and could submit an offer when the transfer window reopens.

That is according to Nicolo Schira, who reports the Gunners are admirers of the versatile Italy international, who can play in multiple positions but is most comfortable at left or right wing-back.

AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest are also keeping tabs on Cambiaso, while Manchester City were heavily linked with a move in January.

Viktor Gyokeres vs Benjamin Sesko

Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres have been identified as Arsenal’s two main targets for the centre forward position as Arteta looks to bolster his options in attack.

Arsenal are yet to decide which player to sign, although transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Gyokeres’ price tag will play a key role in whether or not the Gunners opt to bring him to the club.
