Harry Maguire has admitted that “a lot of players” will leave Manchester United this summer following the club’s worst season in Premier League history.

The Red Devils ended the campaign down in 15th place in the English top flight table, having only amassed 42 points from their 38 matches, while they lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday.

As a result, Man Utd will be without European football for just the second time since 1990, and the club are set for a major overhaul this summer.

A deal to bring Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha to Old Trafford has already been agreed, while Ruben Amorim’s side are also expected to sign a new centre forward, a new central midfielder, a new wing-back and a new goalkeeper.

However, the Red Devils have missed out on top target Liam Delap, who is set to join Chelsea for €35 million, and Viktor Gyokeres has already rejected a potential move to the club in favour of negotiating a deal with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the club are at risk of losing Bruno Fernandes to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal, and he is one of several players who could be set to leave Old Trafford ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

That is according to Maguire, who admitted that a major squad turnover is likely to happen this summer following their shock 1-0 defeat to ASEAN All-Stars in a post-season friendly on Wednesday.

“We will make a lot of changes in the summer at the club,” Maguire told reporters during a press conference in India. “There will be a lot of players who leave and hopefully a lot of players will come in.

“And that’s down to the club to make sure they get that right and it’s down to us players to make sure that we are the ones that are involved.

“Each player has to take responsibility,” Maguire added. “This season has not been good, we know the criticism is going to be there and we have to accept it. It’s part and parcel of playing for one of the biggest in the world.

“When you play for Manchester United and have a bad year, the scrutiny just comes and comes... The whole world jumps on it, not just the Manchester United fans. The others as well. It can spiral.”

Who will leave Man Utd this summer?

Man Utd are set to offload a number of first-team stars this summer as Amorim looks to mould the squad into a team capable of fighting in the top-half of the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all expected to be sold following loan spells away from Old Trafford, while Alejandro Garnacho has been told to find a new club following his latest bust-up with Amorim.

Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund have also been linked with an exit as Man Utd face their most important summer transfer window in years.
