Arsenal receive Jeremy Doku transfer verdict

Former England striker Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Arsenal to sign Jeremy Doku if Manchester City receive a hefty punishment after being found guilty of 114 financial breaches.

The Premier League are yet to determine City’s punishment, however they could receive a major points deduction or even expulsion from the division if their appeal is unsuccessful. As a result, a host of their biggest stars have been linked with blockbuster moves away.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal will explore a potential deal for Erling Haaland if the Norway striker becomes available next year, while Agbonlahor has now told Mikel Arteta’s side to pursue a deal for his City team-mate Doku.

While discussing which clubs should pounce if City receive a major punishment, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “Then I am going Jeremy Doku [to] Arsenal.

“Arsenal need a left-winger. They need someone, different options. I think that would be a perfect signing for Arsenal. Just go in there, Doku. Come on.”

Doku scored five goals and provided five assists in 30 Premier League matches last season, and he played a pivotal role alongside Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo as City closed the gap on Arsenal during the final few months of the campaign.

Arsenal need a new left winger

Arsenal bolstered their attack with the signing of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis over the summer, but they sanctioned the sales of both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, while they failed in their high-profile pursuits of Vinicius Junior, Morgan Rogers and Julian Alvarez.

As a result, they are widely expected to prioritise bringing in a new forward next year, with the left side of attack likely to be targeted by Arteta.

Tzolis has caught the eye since his arrival at the club, however Arsenal have one fewer attacker at their disposal this year and it’s an issue they will look to address in 2027 as they aim to cement their place as the dominant force in the English top flight.

Doku, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €56.9 million, has five years remaining on his current contract at Man City, after signing an extension in August, but he is one of several players who will likely explore an exit if they are relegated from the Premier League.
