Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Delap DONE, Chelsea BOMB, Sesko LATEST

Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has lifted the lid on the latest rumours and gossip, including deals involving Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Liam Delap to Chelsea: Here we go!
Romano has explained that Liam Delap’s move to Chelsea is just a matter of time before being completed.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “Chelsea’s priority was to sign Liam Delap as their new striker for Enzo Maresca. For Delap, Chelsea was the priority because of Champions League football. And we have to mention Enzo Maresca because he’s been crucial for this story. Delap knows him so well, the connection has always been great. The player was also delighted with the coach’s words in public about him, so all this mix made the difference.
“The deal is done. Chelsea have made direct contact with Ipswich to trigger the release clause, to prepare the contract of the player. Everything is agreed. In the next 24 hours, everything should be completed.
“Delap to Chelsea is here we go! Manchester United were interested, Everton made a crazy proposal to the player, Newcastle United were interested and Italian clubs tried. But Delap will play at Stamford Bridge next season.”
Guiu heading to Ipswich?
In a separate deal, Marc Guiu could be on his way to Ipswich Town on loan. Romano says that it’s a deal Chelsea are open to.
He explained: “Ipswich have also asked for Marc Guiu on loan. It’s a straight loan, with no buy option. Let’s see what the boy decides because Chelsea could be quite open to that solution. They’d be happy to send a player on loan in England rather than Spain, for example, but now it’s on the player. Let’s see what happens about this potential loan move of Guiu to Ipswich.”

More Chelsea movement to come: Ekitike a possibility
Romano says that although Chelsea have been busy – there’s more to come from the Stamford Bridge side.
“The market for Chelsea is not over yet. They’ve already made a big investment in Giovany Quenda for 2026, my expectation is for Chelsea to pre-sign Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg this summer for next year. They’re already planning for 2026,” Roman explained.
“Willian Estevao is joining this summer from Palmeiras but Chelsea also want to add one more winger. Remember, they love Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund but he’s not the only one. In general, a winger is something that Chelsea want to do.
“For the strikers, it depends on the opportunities. Chelsea remain interested in the situation of Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht. It’s not advanced. There will be no big changes this week. Chelsea are following that situation and Liverpool are also attentive. These two clubs have already made some contact.”
What’s happening with Sesko?
Moving away from Chelsea, Sesko is heavily linked with Arsenal currently, and Romano says the Emirates club have started making moves.
“On Benjamin Sesko, I can tell you that Arsenal have started making direct contacts for a deal. From being highly rated for a long time – Arsenal wanted him last summer and in January but RB Leipzig said no – but there’s been a big appreciation for a long time. Now everyone has approved these contacts for Sesko,” he said.
“Arsenal still have other strikers, like Viktor Gyokeres, in the pipeline. But they are working on Sesko, both on the club side and the player side. The conversation is active and that’s an important point.
“He’s going to leave RB Leipzig. For Sesko, there’s a lot of interest.
“The appreciation from the player is very clear towards Arsenal because when you start working on a year ago, you show how much you want the player. Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Sesko. For sure, he’s an important option for Arsenal.”

Man City pushing for Cherki
With Florian Wirtz heading to Liverpool, Manchester City have increasingly set their focus on landing Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.
“Manchester City have now started concrete talks to be informed about Cherki. There were a lot of talks about a release clause for Cherki but Borussia Dortmund tried and that clause was not something clear or easy to trigger. Now City want to respect Lyon and have a proper conversation,” he said.
“City will try to get their business done early – Tijjani Reijnders, Tino Livramento, Rayan Ait Nouri and the goalkeeper is a topic. For sure, they’re interested in Cherki.
