PSG have put a world-record price tag on the head of wantaway striker Kylian Mbappe, according to a report in The Telegraph.

Mbappe has made clear his desire to leave PSG during the January transfer window, with the France international striker feeling that certain promises made to him by the club have been broken.

He spurned interest from Real Madrid in the summer to sign a new two-year deal with the Parc des Princes outfit but is unhappy at being deployed as a No.9, despite scoring at the rate of one goal per game this season.

Mbappe’s attitude has drawn criticism from several European legends, including Rio Ferdinand and Thierry Henry, yet the 23-year-old remains a player that most clubs would love to have in their squad.

One major stumbling block towards any deal, though, is likely to be his price tag.

According to the English source, PSG value Mbappe as a player worth €300-350 million – well in excess of the world-record €222m transfer fee they paid for Neymar in 2017.

Such an asking price is likely to prevent any club from launching a serious bid for the player, whose wages are also astronomical.

Real Madrid are thought to maintain an interest in the player, despite unhappiness over the manner in which he snubbed them last summer, with Premier League outfits Manchester City and Liverpool are thought to have the best prospect of signing him in England.

What is Kylian Mbappe really worth?

FootballTransfers, meanwhile, values Mbappe at €142m, making him the second most valuable player in the world behind Erling Haaland on our metric.

Mbappe hit a high valuation of €161m in December 2021 before a slide that coincided with the final months of his PSG contract. His worth leapt up to €150m on the back of his new deal but has diminished slightly in recent months as he has found himself playing away from his favoured role.
