Benjamin Sesko has become a hot transfer market property in the days since Manchester United’s interest in the Red Bull Salzburg attacker emerged.

FootballTransfers understands that Man Utd want to sign an additional forward player regardless of what Cristiano Ronaldo’s future holds this summer, but clearly the need for a forward becomes more urgent if a buyer is found for the Portuguese.

The Red Devils had been following the Slovenia international for some months, but their interest has triggered a number of other sides who have been quietly keeping close tabs on the forward to make their interest known, too.

Salzburg would ideally like to keep the forward until 2023, but should an acceptable offer be tabled for the 19-year-old, they could sell now. Given the bidding war that could erupt over the teenager, who has only scored 13 goals for the club in 41 appearances, they may just be tempted into striking a deal.

Benjamin Sesko transfer latest

Manchester United may lead the way for Sesko, but there is plenty of interest in the striker from all around Europe.

The Red Devils will be concerned that Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs presently looking at the forward, who impressed against Jurgen Klopp’s men in a recent pre-season friendly. Both are better positioned currently than the Old Trafford side, who have had a frustrating summer.

Equally, there is strong interest from Spain, with Fichajes reporting that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are all studying the possibility of a move. Certainly, he would fit the profile of player that Los Blancos have been signing in recent years as part of their succession plan for veteran stars.

And finally, there is also thought to be interest from PSG in France. With the Parc des Princes already well stocked in attack and having added Hugo Ekitike to their ranks this summer, Sesko seems an unlikely priority there.

Who are the favourites?

Man Utd's interest in Sesko appears to be most advanced, but they could face problems in landing him if the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea or Real Madrid launch a transfer bid.

In the case of all three of these sides, there is a clear pathway for Sesko to move into the starting XI, and while that is also present at Man Utd, the lack of Champions League football and all-round competitiveness is a hurdle they will have to overcome.
