Manchester United will have to pay Ruben Amorim €13.8 million in compensation if they sack him before 11 November, according to a report.

The Red Devils boss is facing the axe after a horrific start to the new season, which has seen Man Utd win just once in five games. This rotten run of form includes a humiliating defeat to fourth-tier Grimsby in the Carabao Cup.

Amorim has overseen just eight victories in his 10 months at Old Trafford, and reports increasingly suggest that he is fighting a losing battle. On Tuesday, it was claimed that Man Utd have put a plan in place to sack Amorim next month.

The report asserted that Amorim will be relieved of his duties during the October international break unless results and performances drastically improve in the next three games.

Man Utd face Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland before players set off on international duty again. Should the situation become untenable, he could even be sacked before the break.

Amorim to earn a fortune from Man Utd sacking

According to the Daily Mail, firing Amorim this early into the season would be a costly endeavour for a Man Utd side that has been struggling financially - even if their summer spending spree suggested otherwise.

The report claims that Amorim is entitled to a hefty payout of €13.8m (£12m) if sacked during his first year in the job. He joined the club on 11 November 2024 after Erik ten Hag was axed in late October.

Despite Amorim stating earlier this year that he would walk away from the job without compensation if shown the door, the report asserts that this was merely posturing and is unlikely to happen.

Man Utd would therefore have to shell out a huge fee if they were to let him go before 11 November, and this is likely to influence their thinking. They may have to persist with him beyond the next international break to avoid a massive financial hit.
