Declan Rice slammed Arsenal fans for their unjustified treatment of Madueke, while Mikel Arteta insisted that the 23-year-old would provide much-needed quality and depth to Arsenal’s attack upon his arrival.

After just four appearances, Arsenal fans have now been won over by Madueke, despite the fact he is yet to register his first goal contribution for the club.

The winger was excellent while on international duty with England in September and he continued that form with a sublime display against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Madueke terrorised Forest left-back Morato during the first-half and he created numerous opportunities for his Arsenal team-mates thanks to his pace, trickery and creativity down his preferred right flank.

In the process, he solidified his place as a more than capable back-up to Bukayo Saka and Arteta has even admitted that Arsenal’s ‘Star Boy’ isn’t guaranteed to immediately displace Madueke once he returns to full fitness.

Noni Madueke matches Eden Hazard feat

Against Nottingham Forest, Madueke officially became just the 10th different Premier League player to record five successful take-ons, five carries into the penalty area and five key passes in a single game since the start of the 2017/18 season.

Luis Diaz, Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish (x2), Gerard Deulofeu, Eden Hazard (x2), Wilfried Zaha and Mohamed Salah are the only other players to have achieved this feat in the last eight years, as per Fbref (via SCOUTED).

Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens, the player Chelsea signed to replace Madueke, endured a torrid evening against Brentford and he was hooked in the 56th minute after an underwhelming performance on the left flank.

It’s still early days, but Chelsea will no doubt be starting to rue their decision to offload Madueke following his excellent form in recent weeks.
