Galatasaray have finally won the race for the 26-year-old Nigeria attacker, though.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Turkish giants have now provided a bank guarantee to financially secure the deal, which will see the striker complete a €75 million move. Now the final stages of the transaction are being worked on.

There was a last-gasp bid from Al-Hilal to try to snatch Osimhen from Galatasaray, but this was knocked back.

Anti-Serie A clause put in Osimhen’s contract

The closing stages of the Osimhen deal have not been without drama.

Napoli have even insisted on a special clause that will prevent the striker returning to a Serie A rival within the next two years, Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Galatasaray will not be able to sell Osimhen to an Italian club before 2028. If they were to break this condition, they would be forced to send another €75m to the Serie A champions.

Napoli demanded that such a deal be put in place because they do not want to be taken by surprise by the prolific scorer moving to one of their rivals. Indeed, they had already insured against this in Osimhen’s latest contract extension with them, which included a €75m release clause that did not apply to Serie A clubs.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis will be particularly pleased to get the deal over the line, with Il Mattino reporting: “For two years, Osimhen has been an obsession, a kind of nightmare. First with his renewal and then with his impossible transfer. And even these days seem like an ordeal. It’s an issue that troubles him because every time Osimhen gets close to a move, there’s a setback, an unforeseen event.”

This time, though, it finally looks like Osimhen is leaving Napoli, with Galatasaray’s €75m offer winning the day.
