The Red Devils have been locked in talks with their Premier League rivals since the beginning of June, and a major breakthrough was made on Monday morning, sources with knowledge of the situation have informed us.

Man Utd have had several bids rejected by the Bees, but the two clubs finally managed to find common ground during fresh discussions today. Brentford have been firm in their conviction that Mbeumo is worth around €80 million.

The Cameroon international, for his part, has been clear with Brentford as well as his suitors that he is only willing to engage in talks with Man Utd, and he is now one step closer to getting his dream move.

Sources have told us that the last remaining issues between Man Utd and Brentford have been resolved and that the transfer is now in the process of being finalised.

Mbeumo set to join Man Utd

Mbeumo has been pushing for a move to Man Utd ever since the Red Devils initially approached Brentford at the beginning of June. Newcastle and Tottenham have had to give up their pursuit of the 25-year-old due to his unequivocal desire to make the move to Old Trafford.

Over the weekend, reports emerged claiming that Man Utd were expecting to have Mbeumo available before they jet off to Sweden and then the US on Saturday, 19 July.

Sources have confirmed to us that Man Utd are aiming to unveil Mbeumo before the end of the week, with the player set to be permitted to travel to Manchester imminently.

Man Utd will make Mbeumo their fourth signing of the summer after Matheus Cunha for €74 million, Enzo Kana-Biyik on a free transfer and Diego Leon for €4m, although a deal for the latter was already wrapped up at the beginning of the year.
