Celtic are reportedly preparing a fresh offer for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, who could become their most expensive signing in history if he completes a move this summer.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a top target for Martin O’Neill’s side ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and they are ready to ramp up negotiations over a potential deal amid significant interest in Arne Engels.

West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign the Belgium midfielder and Celtic are now preparing for his possible exit by pursuing a deal for Gineitis, who made 29 Serie A appearances for Torino last season.

The Lithuania international was linked with a move to Celtic Park in January and the Hoops have now rekindled their interest in his signature as West Ham step up discussions over a summer deal for Engels.

In fact, Celtic are now ready to submit a fresh proposal to Torino, according to Italian transfer insider Nicolo Schira, with Gineitis currently valued at between €14m-15m by the Serie A outfit. If he moves to Glasgow for that fee, the 22-year-old midfielder would immediately usurp Kasper Hogh as Celtic’s all-time record signing.

Celtic to sign Gvidas Gineitis?

Gineitis’ agent, Dmitry Vinokurov, has confirmed that Torino will be open to a sale if a suitable offer is lodged before the end of the summer transfer window, but it’s unlikely that a deal will be finalised on the cheap.

“Torino holds Gvidas in high regard and believes in his future,” Vinokurov recently told reporters (via The Sun).

“The player has steadily improved within the club and is considered an important part of the project. At the same time, Gvidas is ambitious, as any player competing at this level should be.

“There have already been expressions of interest from other clubs, which is natural considering his age, performance, and potential.

“If an interesting offer were to arrive for both Torino and Gvidas, it would certainly be carefully evaluated.”

However, Gineitis himself was far less open ahead of the summer window, admitting: “I don't look to the future. I just work every day. We'll see what happens after each year. When I was a kid, I just dreamed of playing football professionally. Now that's what I do.”
