The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign at Home Park, following his arrival from Port Vale for a fee of €1.4 million in August, and his form has attracted significant transfer interest from clubs in England and Scotland.

Tolaj has scored 17 goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions since joining Plymouth, and he has been tentatively linked with a move to Celtic in recent months.

This has now been confirmed by Football Insider, who report that Tolaj has been added to the Hoops’ summer wishlist as they look to bring a new striker to Celtic Park ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The club are yet to find a suitable replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi, who was sold to Stade Rennais in January 2025, and they have trialled a number of players in the number nine role throughout this campaign, to varying degrees of success.

Celtic target summer striker signing

Kelechi Iheanacho has been tipped to depart Celtic Park after one injury-hit season at the club, while Freiburg loanee Junior Adamu is unlikely to be signed on a permanent deal and Johnny Kenny is expected to be sold once he returns from a temporary stint at Bolton Wanderers.

Celtic do hold the option to make Tomas Cvancara’s loan move from Borussia Monchengladbach a permanent one for just over €8m, although it remains to be seen if they opt to trigger this clause.

Signing Tolaj is also an option for the Bhoys and it’s reported that he is one of several players they are eager to sign as they prepare for a significant rebuild following a difficult 2025-26 campaign, in which they have been through three different managers.

However, Plymouth are desperate to retain the 24-year-old and they remain in a strong negotiating position as his current contract at Home Park isn’t due to expire until 2029.
