Rangers 'in talks' over BLOCKBUSTER striker transfer
Rangers are locked in talks with Lille over a possible transfer involving Hamza Igamane, according to reports in France.
The 22-year-old has been on Lille’s radar for the entire summer and they have now formally reignited talks to sign the Rangers striker before Transfer Deadline Day.
That is according to French outlet Foot Mercato, who claim that Igamane has been a transfer priority for Lille since June. The Ligue 1 outfit have resumed talks with Rangers “in the last few hours” and they are now eager to finalise an agreement to bring the Morocco international to France.
Igamane scored 16 goals in 46 appearances during his debut season at Rangers last year and it’s understood that he wants to join Lille before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.
Will Hamza Igamane leave Rangers?
News of Lille’s rekindled interest in Igamane comes after he refused to come off the substitutes bench during Rangers’1-1 draw versus St Mirren on Sunday.
After the match, Rangers boss Russell Martin told Sky Sports: “Hamza told me he was injured.
“We had a bid this week for Hamza, we rejected it. All was fine, he trained fine yesterday and warmed up fine. I turned around to him at 60 minutes because I wanted two strikers on the pitch and Hamza told me he's injured.”
When asked if Igamane had refused to play after his failed move away, Martin replied: “I don't know. I have to trust him, but we'll see.”
He added: “The issue is that the window is still open and there are people with one eye out and one eye in.
“We need people to be all in all the time at this football club, we really need that.
“There are too many people uncertain, still trying to think maybe there's something there for them.
“The window needs to shut quickly and in-house we have to make sure we have people that really, really want to be here. I'm calm about it.”
