The Ibrox side are looking to bounce back from a damaging tie with Club Brugge, which saw them crash out of the Champions League in a most humiliating fashion.

Russell Martin's men were destroyed 9-1 on aggregate, with the manner of the performances piling the pressure on the new head coach. In addition to this European embarrassment, Rangers have yet to taste success in the league, drawing all three of their Premiership games 1-1.

It is perhaps quite fitting then that the Glasgow giants are set to take on hated city rivals Celtic in the Old Firm on Sunday, the Hoops also ignominiously bowing out of the Champions League midweek after losing to Kairat Almaty on penalties.

Martin's new recruits have yet to impress, so Rangers remain in the market for reinforcements. Bojan Miovski is set to replace striker Hamza Igamane, who has completed a €12 million move to Lille, and a defensive acquisition is also about to arrive at Ibrox.

Rangers to sign Cornelius

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rangers are set to sign Marseille defender Derek Cornelius, although it is unclear if the deal will be permanent or an initial loan.

The 35-time Canada international is set to arrive in Glasgow after making 24 appearances for Champions League participants Marseille. He only joined the Ligue 1 side for €4m last summer.

Cornelius, who has also played in Germany, Serbia, Greece and Sweden, did not manage to entirely convince Roberto de Zerbi last term, hence OM's willingness to let him go after just 12 months.

The 27-year-old is a much-needed defensive signing for the Gers, with new signings Nasser Djiga and Max Aarons not covering themselves in glory so far, to put it mildly.
