Celtic transfer plan CONFIRMED by Brendan Rodgers
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he wants to add “more quality, more speed and more creativity” on Transfer Deadline Day.
The Scottish giants have spent €8.7 million on nine new signings so far this summer, however Rodgers is eager to bolster his squad further before the window closes on Monday evening.
Celtic were held to a 0-0 draw against arch-rivals Rangers on Sunday and Rodgers confirmed his desire to bring in several new faces following the match.
“I look back to 12 months ago and we were really fast and dynamic and I hope in the next 24 hours we can get the support to the squad that can give us the opportunity to give us that again,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.
“It's not disrespectful to the guys here because they need it. Any team needs that. We have a lot of work to do but we need the competition in the squad and creativity to take the game to the level we want to.”
When asked if fans can expect Celtic to be busy on Transfer Deadline Day, Rodgers replied: “It's clearly the plan to be. We want to pad out the squad with more quality, more speed and more creativity. Hopefully we can do that.
“There's a number of areas we need to freshen up.”
Who could Celtic sign on Transfer Deadline Day?
Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg is currently Celtic’s primary transfer target and rumours suggest that a third offer is set to be lodged for the Denmark international.
Sebastian Tounekti and Jakob Breum have also been linked with a move to Celtic Park in recent days, while the club are set to sell Adam Idah to Swansea City for a fee that could reach €8.1 million if add-ons are met.
Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy was touted as a potential option for Celtic during the early stages of the window, however he is now on the verge of joining Cremonese.
