Man Utd flop undergoes medical to complete €45m transfer
Rasmus Hojlund is in Italy this morning to complete his Napoli medical and sign for the Italian champions.
Hojlund flew to Italy on Saturday evening and was filmed arriving at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome on Sunday morning for his Napoli medical.
If all goes as planned, Hojlund will join Napoli on an initial loan costing €5 million with an obligation to buy for a further €45m.
Man Utd will have a five per cent sell-on clause, while there will be a aminimum fee release clause of €90m in the deal.
Hojlund has agreed a five year contract until 2030 with the option of a further year.
Hojlund to join Napoli
Napoli decided to move for Hojlund after Romelu Lukaku suffered a long-term injury that will keep him out until close to Christmas.
AC Milan had been favourites for Hojlund but Napoli moved in to close the deal.
Hojlund was no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the coming season and has not played a minute this campaign.
Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.
Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United gave up on the striker.
