Nicolas Jackson and Chelsea are set to clash over the Premier League side’s decision to block his loan move to Bayern Munich at the eleventh hour.

It was reported on Saturday morning that Jackson’s move to the Bundesliga champions was virtually a done deal, with Fabrizio Romano among those to announce the move was effectively completed.

However, Liam Delap pulled up injured in the Blues’ Premier League clash against Fulham, prompting Chelsea to pull the plug on the move.

“Chelsea has informed us that they would like to have the player back – after we came to an agreement yesterday and we were given permission for the medical. Now the situation is that the boy is in Munich and we have to send him back. That is the current state of affairs; I cannot predict the future,” said Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl in quotes relayed by Sky Sport Deutschland.

Jackson, though, clearly has an appetite to remain in Germany and appears willing to push the deal to a conclusion along with agent Ali Barat.

According to Senegalese outlet Taggat, the striker’s camp have refused the Blues request that he returns to London and is instead staying in Munich. Sky Sport Deutschland adds that there is no indication that flights have been booked or a private jet has been chartered.

Emergency discussions

Talks are being held in a bid to salvage the move – and the player’s relationship with the club. These appear to be led by Barat of the EPIC group and involve Bayern Munich also pushing for the deal to be resurrected.

It would be a major blow for FCB to miss out on the striker at this stage of the transfer window as it will involve them finding another forward to sign in just a couple of days.

Bayern saw Jackson not only as a replacement for Harry Kane, but someone who could play alongside him off the left wing.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are now poised to retain him while Delap’s injury is assessed.
