Mbappe wants Madrid move to copy Ronaldo, claims former PSG teammate

Kylian Mbappe may leave Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Madrid because he has always idolized Cristiano Ronaldo, according to former teammate Jese.

The French forward has a contract with the Ligue 1 club that will expire in the summer of 2022.

That means PSG may be forced to sell Mbappe at the end of this season if the striker is unwilling to extend his current deal.

As such, rumours have begun suggesting that the forward could be on his way to Madrid before the start of next season.

While the pandemic has severely impacted the revenue streams of every football club in Europe, Madrid specifically avoided spending huge sums last summer in a bid to use all their resources in the coming transfer window.

That war chest could be used to entice a number of players to the club, but it seems as though the Spanish giants have their heart set on Mbappe.

And according to Jese, who played with Mbappe for three years between 2017 and 2020, the striker may also have his heart set on such a deal too.

“He would love to go to Real Madrid,” the forward explained to El Partidazo de COPE on Wednesday.

“His idol has always been Cristiano [Ronaldo]. He loves Madrid and I am sure he will play there one day.”

Prior to coming through as an exciting prospect at Sporting CP and his move to Manchester United in 2003, Ronaldo moved to Real Madrid in 2009 and became one of the biggest stars in the world.

Over the course of his nine-year spell in Madrid, Ronaldo scored over 300 goals and won eight major titles with the club, including two La Liga and four Champions League titles.

As such, few would argue with Mbappe’s hopes and dreams of emulating Ronaldo’s success with the Spanish giants if he were to make the move in the summer.
