Endrick has already agreed to leave Real Madrid: AC Milan favourites to sign striker
Real Madrid forward Endrick has given the green light to leave the Bernabeu in January, with his choice of destination apparently already made.
Clubs were queuing up to sign the young Brazilian in the summer, but Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho put a stop to the transfer talks by insisting that Endrick was in his plans.
However, the 20-year-old has suffered from injury and has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu, with Carlos Espi’s strong start further hindering his prospects of getting game time.
Rumours have reignited over Endrick’s future in recent days, with Aston Villa, Roma, AC Milan and Lyon among the clubs linked with him.
Now the attacker has agreed to a move, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Endrick’s January departure could be ‘almost a given’
Endrick is ready to join AC Milan, according to the Italian source, which has not ruled out the prospect of Roma or Aston Villa making a successful late tilt for the striker.
“Endrick has hinted to AC Milan that if there were a chance he could leave Madrid this winter, they would be his first choice,” Gazzetta reports.
“If the situation doesn't change, his departure in the transfer window would be almost a given.”
Endrick has reportedly told his agents at Roc Nation that he does not intend to spend a season sitting on the bench.
Milan have a strong relationship with the agency and this could be a key factor in deciding the player’s future. Indeed, Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is said to be “very confident” of landing the attacker if Madrid open the door to a deal.
The Rossoneri are looking at the possibility of a January loan deal but it is added that they would not rule out a permanent move, having struck a previous agreement with Los Blancos for Brahim Diaz that consisted of a loan with a purchase option.
Why Roma is a better move for Endrick
But is AC Milan the right move for Endrick? Not according to data analytics firm SciSports.
It claims that Roma are considerably better set up to get the most out of Endrick, whether that’s as a centre-forward, which is his natural role, or as a right winger.
SciSports’ Career Advice tool rates clubs based on a variety of metrics from development and game time to playing style and formation.
It claims that Endrick would fit excellently into Roma’s system, scoring an incredible 87 as a right winger and a commendable 77 as a centre-forward. The Serie A club ranks first and third among the South American’s options respectively in each of these roles, underlining how good an opportunity it is for him to move to the Italian capital.
