Martin Odegaard could help Arteta fix Arsenal's biggest problem
Martin Odegaard could play a pivotal role in Arsenal’s pursuit of a new left winger next year following their failure to sign Vinicius Junior or Morgan Rogers this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s side bolstered their attack with the addition of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, but they were unable to sign another option on the left flank before Transfer Deadline Day despite sanctioning the sales of both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
As a result of this failure, it’s understood that signing a new left winger is regarded as a priority for 2027, with Arteta keen to improve his attack after committing his long-term future to the club by signing a new four-year contract.
Brentford star Kevin Schade is among the stars believed to be on Arsenal’s transfer radar, while the Gunners are also firmly in the race to sign RB Leipzig starlet Antonio Nusa, who has been linked with a Premier League switch for several months.
The Norway winger will have just two years remaining on his current contract at Leipzig next summer and widespread reports suggest that Arsenal are ready to lodge a formal bid for his services in 2027 after identifying him as one of their top attacking targets.
Furthermore, they could have a secret weapon in their pursuit of Nusa’s signature.

Arsenal were believed to be on the verge of finalising a deal for the aforementioned Rogers over the summer, but they were beaten to a transfer by Chelsea, who relied upon the help of his close friend Cole Palmer to seal an agreement.
A similar tactic may be required for Arsenal next year, with Odegaard potentially set to play a key role in the club’s pursuit of his Norway team-mate Nusa.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for Arsenal in recent weeks and the reigning Premier League champions have been tipped to test RB Leipzig’s resolve with a formal approach next summer.
Nusa caught the eye for Norway at this summer’s World Cup, notably scoring the opener during their round of 32 win over Ivory Coast, and he has already notched two goals and two assists in four Bundesliga games so far this season.
He is regarded as one of the primary left winger options set to be available next summer and Arsenal could use Odegaard’s connection with his fellow Norwegian to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
