Spanish giants Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for a reported €30 million.

The French central midfielder has been a Blancos target ever since he broke through in Ligue 1, and they've finally landed their man.

Camavinga, 18, is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, and has already racked up 87 appearances for Rennes, despite his young age.

He made his senior debut at the age of just 16, and went on to make his debut for the France senior team aged 17, scoring an overhead kick one week later. The midfielder has developed quickly, and in bringing Camavinga into their squad, Real Madrid have added youth to an ageing team.

After being unable to agree a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid turned their attention to Camavinga and acted fast to get a deal done before the end of the summer transfer window.

Although Rennes wanted to keep their starlet, Camavinga refused to sign a new deal, and with his current contract expiring in 2022, the club deemed it necessary to sell while they could still acquire a transfer fee for the player.

The €30m could well rise with future add-ons.

Real Madrid win race for Camavinga

Although Real Madrid stepped up their efforts in the final hours of the window, Camavinga had been linked with a move away all summer; PSG and Manchester United both expressed an interest in the player, but ultimately couldn't agree a fee.

With just 12 months on his contract remaining at Rennes, Real Madrid were the only club willing to pay what the French club wanted.

It had looked like PSG would win the race for the midfielder, with the option of staying in France appealing, but a dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu was chosen by Camavinga.
