Why Eriksen HAD to join Man Utd from Brentford

Christian Eriksen has won over the Manchester United fans quickly since arriving at the club in the summer.
Eriksen joined as a free agent after his contract with Brentford expired, giving him the opportunity to make a fairy tale move to Man Utd barely a year after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field while playing for Denmark in Euro 2020.
Following that incident, Inter had to release him from his contract as he was not allowed to continue playing professional football in Serie A, and instead he made the switch to Brentford. It proved to be a hugely successful collaboration and in the wake of his excellent performances plenty of interest arrived in the summer transfer window.

Eriksen on Man Utd dream
Man Utd ultimately won the race to sign the 30-year-old, who has revealed why a switch to Old Trafford was too good an opportunity to turn down.
“Of course Brentford wanted me to stay, but I would say that where I am in my career, the opportunity to take a step up was what I had dreamed of and hoped for,” he told Viaplay in Denmark. “I wanted to kickstart my career by moving to an even bigger club and I succeeded.
“I had enough offers. I had plenty of options to choose from, but it was about finding the right one.
“Manchester United are one of the biggest football clubs in the world. It was redemption after what happened before, and proving I could get an offer from United was great. I’ve joined a huge club.”
Eriksen has made an excellent start to life at Old Trafford, winning fans over wish his dashing performances in midfield. Indeed, even when Man Utd were struggling early in the season, he was a notable exception to that rule.
In total, he has played seven times for his new club and has created one goal, though these figures scantly do justice to the level of his performances.
Eriksen and Man Utd will be back in action on Thursday, when they face Sheriff away from home in the Europa League.
