Liverpool are interested in signing Diogo Jota's Portugal teammate Goncalo Guedes from Valencia.

The 24-year-old has made an impressive start to the latest La Liga campaign, his fifth since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, registering two goals and two assists so far,

He also has just 18 months left on his contract, so Premier League clubs are starting to pay attention ahead of a potential deal.

The Portugal international had been linked with Wolves last summer, but their absence of European football may have left him void of the required level of interest to make the switch to England.

However, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Guedes would make a quality addition to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side.

Guedes on the move?

First, Liverpool would be able to offer Guedes Champions League football which could be the deciding factor of a potential deal.

And the Reds would benefit from another attacking option given the long-term injury to Harvey Elliot, as well as the possibility for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to miss games in the new year because of the Africa Cup of Nations.

He can play as either a winger, or as a striker, a position he has been utilised in this season, providing great versatility across the forward line.

Add to that, Guedes could be helped to settle in at Anfield by fellow member of the Portugal national team Diogo Jota.

The pair will also already share some understanding on the pitch as they have featured in Fernando Santos' lineups on several occasions.

As for Valencia, they are thought to be ready to cash in on one of their most prized assets before his contract enters the final year, meaning a deal is likely to take place should Liverpool want to get it over the line.

However, the Reds have more than one forward on their transfer wishlist, with RB Salzburg's Karim Adeyemi of interest.

The former Bayern academy player has made a brilliant start to the Austrian Bundesliga season but as always with Salzburg players, RB Leipzig will be favourites to secure his signature due to the link between the two clubs.
