Chelsea warned over growing Cole Palmer to Man Utd 'noise'
Chelsea have been warned that the "noise" surrounding a Cole Palmer move to Manchester United is only bound to increase if senior players keep growing frustrated with the club's project.
The Blues are enduring yet another tumultuous season. On 1 January, Enzo Maresca walked away from his job as head coach due to numerous disagreements with the club hierarchy and a downturn in form.
The Italian's exit did not go down well with the squad. Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella have both spoken about how Maresca's sudden departure shocked them.
Both have grown disheartened with Chelsea backsliding into anarchy every time they seem to be on the verge of finding some semblance of stability. Cucurella has criticised the club hierarchy for their approach to the transfer market because he feels that the Blues are handicapping themselves.
Fernandez, meanwhile, has voiced his frustration in a different manner. Instead of criticising Chelsea, he has begun flirting with Real Madrid, resulting in a two-game suspension by the club for "crossing a line."
Major exits can't be ruled out
Stamford Bridge has become a powder keg and, according to journalist Luke Edwards, Chelsea need to make sure that the situation does not become worse, or else they could be forced into some painful sales this summer.
In addition to Fernandez, it has been reported that Cole Palmer could look for a way out of West London. As exclusively reported by FootballTransfers, Man Utd have earmarked the 23-year-old as a potential replacement for Bruno Fernandes.
"Liam Rosenior has had a difficult spell, as he was always going to when going into that job with the unbalanced squad they have got in terms of too many young players and not enough experience," Edwards told the BBC.
"[The 7-0 over Port Vale] was a perfect result for him, it gives them an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to, which is positive and much-needed. I like what he's done with Fernandez, but I think the wider issue here is that Chelsea may well have a problem this summer with some of their senior players wanting to leave.
"Cucurella has voiced his displeasure at some of the things that have happened there this season. Fernandez is fluttering his eyelashes at Madrid in the hope they come in for him.
"There's constant noise, which I suspect will get louder, about Cole Palmer wanting out as well. This is the problem Chelsea and BlueCo have when they run it like a business. They've recruited all these players on long-term contracts, but it's a short career.
"These players might not see that they're going to win the big prizes at Chelsea, so they might want out. It's going to be another intriguing summer because they do need to overhaul that squad, but they won't want to lose their senior and most experienced players. But, that's easily what could happen."
