Man Utd looking to beat Arsenal to teenage wonderkid as race heats up

Manchester United are in talks with Leicester City over a deal to sign teenage sensation Louis Page, according BBC Sport.

BBC Sport understands the Red Devils are hoping to beat Arsenal and Aston Villa to the 18-year-old’s signature, with talks currently ongoing.

Page is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in England, with the midfielder having been named EFL Apprentice of the Year last season.

He has made 21 appearances for Leicester, including a cameo in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup first round.

Page joined the Foxes at Under-9s level and signed his first professional contract with the club in September 2025.

Having signed those terms with Leicester, United would have to pay a transfer fee in order to land England Under-20 international Page.

League One side Leicester have already lost one academy star this summer after Jeremy Monga joined Manchester City in July.

The 17-year-old winger moved to the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth €14.6m (£12.5m), according to The Guardian.

In addition to Page, United have also been linked with Leicester centre-back Ben Nelson this summer.

The 22-year-old made 27 appearances for the Midlands-based club last season and has just one year left on his contract.

United famously dipped into the lower leagues when signing Nick Powell from then-League One side Crewe Alexandra in June 2012.

Powell - who, like Page, was 18 at the time - moved to Old Trafford in a deal worth an initial €3.6m (£3m) rising to €6m (£5.1m) with add-ons.

This summer United have signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow ahead of their first full season under Michael Carrick.

Carrick was handed the United job on a permanent basis in May after an impressive spell as interim manager last season.

He replaced Ruben Amorim in January and inspired the club to a third-place Premier League finish - and subsequent qualification for the UEFA Champions League - in 2025-26.
