Transfer Rumours: Man Utd 'intensify' Nmecha deal after contact made for €80m World Cup star
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 26 June, including the latest updates on Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Felix Nmecha.
Man Utd pushing for Nmecha
Manchester United are ‘intensifying’ their efforts to sign Felix Nmecha from Dortmund after the midfielder’s impressive performances at the 2026 World Cup.
Nmecha has started all three of Germany’s matches in North America, providing one goal and one assist, and the 25-year-old has long-been on the radar of United, who are now exploring a deal.
That is according to Sky Sport Germany, who say that United are ‘pushing ahead’ with a deal, with chief Christopher Vivell in ‘close contact’ with Nmecha’s representatives.
However, Dortmund would likely demand a fee of around €80m for Nmecha, while the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also said to be monitoring the situation.
Newcastle reject second Tonali approach from Tottenham
Newcastle have rejected a second approach from Tottenham for midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs had an offer of around £75m (€87m) rejected by the Magpies last week and they are claimed to have returned to Newcastle without improving their offer.
Newcastle are thought to want around £100m (€115.9m) for Tonali but they have yet to receive any offers in that region for the Italian, which prompted Spurs to ask the club whether they would reconsider their first bid.
Tottenham’s suggestion was immediately knocked back by Newcastle, with multiple Premier League sides still thought to be exploring a deal.
Arsenal ‘hold talks’ with Bruno Guimaraes
Arsenal have held talks with the camp of Bruno Guimaraes, with Newcastle said to be ‘braced’ for an approach for their captain by the Premier League champions.
According to the Daily Mail, representatives are ‘gauging the market’ for Guimaraes after an impressive 2026 World Cup campaign for Brazil so far.
The 28-year-old is one of a number of players being watched by Arsenal and it remains to be seen whether they submit a formal offer.
Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract and has not indicated any desire to leave Newcastle, but there is an awareness that his name is being discussed elsewhere.
Newcastle responded quickly to the speculation and insisted their midfield star is not for sale and that they have not had any contact from any club.
Real Madrid make Paz decision
Real Madrid have confirmed to Como that they will exercise their buy-back option for Nico Paz but they could still look to sell the midfielder this summer.
Paz has been a standout performer for Como since joining the club for €6m from Madrid in 2024 and the Spanish giants have a clause allowing them to bring back the 21-year-old for €9m.
However, according to Sky Sport Italy, Los Blancos could look to sell Paz for €60m, with a buy back clause for €80m, and offer Como a first refusal on re-signing the Argentine international in such a case.
The decision now rests with Como whether they are willing to pay the fee to keep their star man or if Real Madrid will look towards the open market to cash in on the youngster.
