Transfer Rumours: Man Utd discount after World Cup disaster as surprise decision revealed
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 9 July, including the latest updates on Danilo, Trevoh Chalobah and Lucas Herrington.
Danilo discount
Botafogo's gamble of not selling Danilo before the World Cup has backfired, according to O Dia.
The Brazil international has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League after a disappointing spell at Nottingham Forest, with Arsenal and Man Utd among the clubs said to be keeping tabs on him.
Botafogo refused to entertain a sale before the World Cup in the hopes that the tournament would boost his value. However, Danilo barely featured and has now returned to the club with "a lower value than expected" after Brazil's disastrous round of 16 exit.
He could be a market opportunity for Man Utd and his other suitors this summer as he remains determined to move to Europe.
Chalobah surprise
Como have surprisingly informed Inter that they are ready to leave the race to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, as per Fabrizio Romano.
The England star is a target for both clubs and is understood to be keen to move to Italy this summer. Como were first on the case and have already had an offer rejected for him. However, the situation has become more complicated ever since Inter joined the race.
Como are not interested in starting a bidding war and, because Chalobah favours a move to the Nerazzurri, they have told Inter that they will "step aside" to allow them to sign him.
Herrington race heats up
Intermediaries working on behalf of Colorado Rapids centre-back Lucas Herrington are in talks with several European clubs, TEAMtalk claims.
Barcelona are firmly in the race to sign the 18-year-old Australian wonderkid and recently had a bid rejected by the Rapids, who had the opportunity to sell him in January before he had even made his debut for them.
Liverpool, Man Utd and numerous other European suitors are keeping a close watch on his rapid development, and they have been particularly impressed with the maturity he showed during Australia's World Cup campaign.
Man Utd hold fresh Ryerson talks
Man Utd have "renewed" their contact with Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson, BILD understands.
The Norway international is currently starring at the World Cup and enhancing his already sparkling reputation. The right-back finished the bygone season with 18 assists to his name.
Man Utd had already expressed an interest in the €30m-rated defender previously, and they are now once again holding talks with his representatives over a potential transfer.
PSG sick of Kolo Muani saga
PSG have offered Randal Kolo Muani to clubs around Europe after discussions with Juventus yet again stalled, Foot Mercato writes.
The Ligue 1 champions have tried to respect the French striker's wish to return to his former loan club, but after essentially 12 months of unsuccessful talks with Juventus, they are now ready to negotiate with other suitors.
Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund are just some of the clubs interested in signing Kolo Muani. He could yet end up at Juventus, but they will have to find the necessary funds somewhere if they wish to complete a deal with PSG.
