Manchester United have been informed that Bournemouth have no interest in selling Alex Scott before the end of the 2026 summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who narrowly missed out on England’s World Cup squad, has been earmarked as a possible summer signing by the Old Trafford hierarchy following an excellent 2025-26 season at the Vitality Stadium.

Scott made 39 appearances across all competitions last year, registering five goal contributions, and he played a pivotal role as Bournemouth qualified for European football for the first time in their entire history.

The Cherries have already lost manager Andoni Iraola to Liverpool this summer, while forward Eli Junior Kroupi is wanted by virtually every elite club in world football following a sensational debut campaign in which he scored 13 Premier League goals in 33 games.

Scott has also attracted significant transfer interest, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Man Utd all submitting enquiries over a possible summer deal, but Bournemouth have no interest in sanctioning a sale.

That is according to BBC Sport and Ben Jacobs, who report that Scott is valued at around €93 million (£80m).

Bournemouth are hopeful that Scott will sign a new contract at the club and they could be willing to include a release clause in the deal, like they did with Antoine Semenyo last summer before his winter move to Man City.

Furthermore, the Cherries insist that Scott isn’t for sale, meaning Man Utd may be forced to look elsewhere amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder this summer.

Analysis: Who could Man Utd sign instead of Alex Scott?

A deal for top target Mateus Fernandes fell through due to West Ham United’s asking price, and he has now joined Tottenham Hotspur for a whopping €99m, with Spurs also completing a move for Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali.

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is understood to be firmly on Man Utd’s radar, however he is expected to remain at the Bernabeu unless Jose Mourinho makes a major u-turn before Deadline Day on 1 September.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba remains an option for Man Utd, following their failure to secure a deal last summer, while their interest in Adam Wharton could be rekindled despite Crystal Palace’s desire to retain him.

The Red Devils have already finalised a deal for Atalanta star Ederson, who will arrive after the World Cup, but another midfielder is wanted following Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury and a new signing is expected to join before the start of the 2026-27 campaign.
