Jeremy Monga signs for Arsenal and five transfers that could be completed this week
The Premier League transfer window officially opened on Monday, but clubs in other European top leagues still need to wait until 1 July before they can formally complete signings.
Despite this, sides from all over the continent are hard at work agreeing summer deals. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have already announced major transfers for Anthony Gordon and Marc Cucurella, respectively, and more are expected to follow suit.
In the Premier League, Chelsea and Liverpool have completed pre-agreed signings such as Emmanuel Emegha, who is one of four new Blues arrivals, and Jeremy Jacquet, who turned down a move to Stamford Bridge in January to move to Anfield this summer.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through five transfers that could be completed this week...
Jeremy Monga to Arsenal
16-year-old Leicester City sensation Jeremy Monga is believed to be on the verge of a move to Arsenal after turning down a professional contract with the Foxes following their relegation to League One.
Monga received offers from as many as eight clubs, but it has been reported that he has chosen Arsenal as his preferred destination. The winger already knows Gunners wonderkid Max Dowman from their time playing for England's U19s.
Discussions over this transfer have been ongoing for several weeks now and should conclude shortly. Personal terms are not thought to be an issue for Monga. However, due to his age, Leicester will be due a sizeable compensation fee, which may have to be decided by a tribunal.
Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid
It is quite surprising that Real Madrid have yet to formally announce the signing of Denzel Dumfries from Inter, considering that it has been pretty much confirmed by everyone involved.
Los Blancos will trigger the 30-year-old's release clause, believed to be slightly lower than €25 million. Inter already have a replacement in mind in the shape of Atalanta starlet Marco Palestra, who impressed on loan at Cagliari.
The delay may stem from the fact that Dumfries is currently at the World Cup with the Netherlands. Whatever the case, he will be a Real Madrid player before long, joining on a four-year deal.
Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid
It is a similar story for Ibrahima Konate. It is an open secret that the France international will join Real Madrid after leaving Liverpool on a free transfer when his contract expires on 30 June.
An agreement on a deal with Real Madrid is already in place, but Los Blancos have yet to officially confirm it. Konate is expected to put pen to paper on a four-year contract.
He initially looked set to remain at Liverpool - he even confirmed it himself - but the two parties were unable to reach a final breakthrough in negotiations over an extension. Like Dumfries and Bernardo Silva, who is also expected to join Real Madrid, Konate is currently at the World Cup.
Ismael Saibari to Bayern Munich
It took longer than expected, but Bayern Munich managed to agree a deal for versatile PSV attacker Ismael Saibari shortly after his impressive performance against Brazil for Morocco at the weekend.
The Bavarians had been in talks with their Dutch counterparts for some time but finding common ground on a fee initially proved difficult. After a renewed push in talks, Bayern ultimately agreed to pay a sizeable €55m.
Interestingly, Saibari is purely a Vincent Kompany signing. He was not high up on the Bayern recruitment department's list of targets after they missed out on Anthony Gordon, but it was Kompany who requested that the 25-year-old be signed.
Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire
Legendary striker Robert Lewandowski could be on his way to the Windy City after all. For years, the Chicago Fire have been trying to sign him. They made a strong push again in late 2025 and early 2026, only to cool their interest in the spring.
However, they now appear to have their best-ever chance of securing his signature after reigniting their interest. Lewandowski and his agent Pini Zahavi were invited to Chicago over the weekend to check out the club's facilities and to hold talks over a free transfer from Barcelona.
It is believed that his discussion with the Fire was very positive. They can't compete with the financial offers Lewandowski has received from Saudi Arabia, but they are willing to make him one of the best-paid players in MLS.
