Man Utd make decision over 'untouchable' star as summer approach 'laughed off'
Manchester United have made a decision over the future of Amad Diallo after the winger was linked with a move away this summer following an underwhelming campaign.
Amad has not provided or goal or assist since December and has only produced four contributions all season in his 30 Premier League appearances.
The 23-year-old has come under fire in recent weeks for his decline in output and recent reports have suggested that the likes of Sunderland are interested in a potential move for Amad if United consider selling the Ivory Coast international.
However, TEAMtalk report that United have ‘laughed off’ any suggestions of Amad leaving Old Trafford this summer and still see the youngster as a ‘major’ long-term part of the future.
Amad is reportedly viewed as one of the ‘most exciting attacking talents’ at the club and somebody whom United are ‘expected to build around’ moving forward.
It is claimed that Amad is ‘firmly considered’ as ‘untouchable’ unless an ‘extraordinary situation’ develops, with neither United or the player having an appetite to explore an exit this summer.
Amad thriving under Carrick as Man Utd make long-term intentions clear
Amad was often used as a wing-back under previous manager Ruben Amorim but he has since returned to a more attacking role since Michael Carrick’s appointment in January.
Carrick’s decision to move Amad higher up the pitch has already been viewed positively by club stuff, who believe it allows the player to influence games more consistently.
Amad has also been delighted by the change in role and has expressed his happiness at Carrick’s management style and system, while the United boss is said to admire the player’s intelligence in possession, work ethic and ability to operate across multiple attacking roles.
United believe Amad still has significant room to grow and the club showcased their confidence in the forward by handing him a new five-year contract last year.
The Red Devils are hoping to sign another attacker this summer but Joshua Zirkzee is the player expected to be sold, with Amad being considered a key part of United’s future going forward.
