Under fire Tottenham Hotspur boss Igor Tudor finds himself in the firing line ahead of Spurs’ trip to Liverpool on Sunday, and Fabrizio Romano has announced that the London club have already made a brutal decision over his future.

Tudor was appointed as interim manager at Tottenham following the sacking of Thomas Frank.

Charged with the task of guiding the embattled club to safety, Spurs have only lurched from crisis to crisis under their interim manager.

Tottenham have lost six games in succession for the first time in their history, and though Tudor has only been in charge for four of these, he courted controversy in the Champions League on Tuesday for his actions during the 5-2 loss against Atletico Madrid.

In particular, he was roundly criticised for failing to comfort goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky when he replaced him after 17 minutes following two errors.

Romano confirms Tudor exit

The Tottenham board have already seen enough to make a hard-line decision on Tudor’s future, Romano has confirmed. His departure is confirmed – it’s only a matter of when.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Igor Tudor is entering into a crucial weekend. Tottenham play Liverpool. It’s a desperate, difficult situation in terms of emergency because many players are out.

“Obviously we know the Premier League table looks dangerous for Tottenham Hotspur, so it’s a bad moment for Spurs. Tudor is having this opportunity, but he remains at serious, serious risk.

“As I told you in a video also in the last 48 hours, Igor Tudor’s position is not safe at all. So we should keep that situation absolutely open from now to the end of the season.

“And in any case, even if Tudor reaches the end of the season, it’s already decided that he’s not going to be Tottenham manager next season. His contract will expire and the club will look for a new coach.”

Who will be Tottenham’s next manager?

Romano has confirmed that there are two leading candidates to lead Tottenham next season: Roberto De Zerbi, who is out of work currently, and USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino.

“If there is a dream candidate for Tottenham now, it is Roberto De Zerbi. The former Brighton and Olympique Marseille manager is seen as an ideal candidate for the Tottenham job,” Romano said.

“Tottenham would love to hire Roberto De Zerbi, but obviously it depends on several things and it’s not an easy situation.

“The other name remains Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino would be a candidate for the summer if Tottenham don’t find another solution before then.

“After the World Cup, Mauricio Pochettino could be a potential name for Tottenham. We know he has a special relationship with the club and the fans, so these two names remain in the frame.”

Landing either Pochettino or De Zerbi will likely require Spurs to be in the Premier League next season, and as things stand, there is little guarantee of that.
