Tottenham have appointed Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the season.

The North London club parted ways with Thomas Frank on Wednesday following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, which left Spurs languishing 16th in the Premier League, just five points ahead of the relegation zone.

With the current 18th-placed side, West Ham, in resurgent form, Tottenham felt that Frank's position had become untenable as the club was sleepwalking into an actual relegation battle.

Similar to Man Utd, instead of trying to hire a new permanent head coach mid-season, Spurs have decided to make an external interim appointment for the remainder of the season.

Tottenham have now unveiled former Juventus and Marseille boss Igor Tudor as their new interim head coach. Crucially, this deal does not include the option to become permanent in the summer.

Tottenham to make permanent appointment in the summer

Spurs fully plan to consider all possible coaching options after the season. The main candidates for the permanent position are Roberto de Zerbi, who is available after parting ways with Marseille, and popular former manager Mauricio Pochettino, currently the head coach of the United States Men's National Team.

Both coaches are understood to be keen on a Premier League return, with Pochettino recently stating that he fully believes he will one day win the league. He has made no secret of the fact that Spurs are still dear to his heart.

As for Tudor, he joins Tottenham after being sacked by Juventus in late October. Having replaced Thiago Motta in March 2025 and led the Bianconeri into the Champions League, the Croatian received a new contract in the summer, but he lost his job after a winless run of eight games just a few months later.

"It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment," Tudor is quoted as saying in an official statement from Spurs. “I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear.

"To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match. There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly."

Sporting Director Johan Lange added: “Igor brings clarity, intensity and experience of stepping into challenging moments and producing impact.

"Our objective is straightforward - to stabilise performances, maximise the quality within the squad and compete strongly in the Premier League and Champions League."
