Mo Salah ready to quit Liverpool

Mohamed Salah is getting ready to leave Liverpool as soon as January after being left on the bench in successive Premier League matches by under-fire manager Arne Slot.

CaughtOffside quotes an unnamed source as having said: “It’s hard to see anything other than Salah leaving if the situation doesn’t change. He’s not happy about the situation. He’ll always be professional about it, but I don’t see him spending six more months on the bench, and we know there’ll be interest.”

Salah has previously been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League or MLS.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp said: “He’s not going to want to be on the bench, he hasn’t signed this contract to see his career out. He wants to play week in, week out.

“I’ll be amazed if he sees out the last two years of his contract, or year and a half. I don’t think this helps the situation one bit. Nothing will surprise me in football - whether it’s in January or maybe in the summer.

“The first thing we’re all going to say is he’ll go to Saudi - he’s obviously a legend in that part of the world - or he’ll want to go to the US, but this for me now is a real breaking point in the relationship.”

Crystal Palace ‘to listen’ to Jean-Philippe Mateta bids

Crystal Palace are getting ready to admit defeat in their quest to retain Jean-Philippe Mateta and are willing to listen to bids for the player in the summer if they are unable to tie the striker down to a new deal, The Sun reports.

With Marc Guehi set to leave as a free agent in the summer, Palace want to avoid a repeat scenario for the 28-year-old France international, whose contract expires in 2028.

Arsenal and Manchester United have previously been linked with an interest in Mateta.
