Ordonez has been linked with a move to England for several months, and both Chelsea and Liverpool have made contact with his camp in recent weeks as they look to gauge the possibility of a mid-season deal.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Club Brugge and Ordonez are both ready to accept a January transfer if an official bid is tabled.

It’s understood that Chelsea and Liverpool are eager to add defensive reinforcements in January and Ordonez has been identified as a potential target by both clubs.

Enzo Maresca’s side have reportedly been tracking his progress since he left Independiente del Valle to join Club Brugge, while Liverpool are also huge admirers of the 21-year-old and have been closely following the defender over the past 12 months.

Joel Ordonez to Chelsea or Liverpool?

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is close friends with Ordonez, his team-mate at international level, and TEAMtalk state that he has been consulted by the Blues hierarchy over a possible deal.

Furthermore, it has previously been reported that Caicedo has urged Chelsea to sign his compatriot amid their pursuit of a new central defender.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have identified Ordonez as an alternative option to top target Marc Guehi, who remains their priority ahead of 2026.

The England international is set to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires next July and although Liverpool are considered to be the frontrunners for his signature, he is also being pursued by the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
