Rangers target Wrexham star and Belgium youth international as rebuild begins
Rangers are exploring January deals for Wrexham attacker Josh Windass and Belgium youth international Tuur Rommens.
The Ibrox club are about to enter a vitally important transfer window. In the summer, Rangers heavily backed coach Russell Martin, but this experiment backfired spectacularly, leading to his sacking in October.
New boss Danny Rohl now has several players who are deemed surplus to requirements at his disposal, including summer signings like Joe Rothwell. As a result, there could once more be plenty of churn at Rangers.
Offloading deadwood is one thing, but even more important is adequately strengthening a side that has massively underperformed so far this season with new signings.
Rohl is set to be backed in the market, and it was reported last week that Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl has been identified as a priority target by the Glasgow giants. Two more targets have now been revealed.
Rangers want Windass, Rommens
According to Ben Jacobs and Sky Sports, Rangers are exploring a deal to potentially re-sign former Josh Windass, who is currently playing for Wrexham in the Championship.
The versatile attacker has scored six goals so far this term, so it is unsurprising that Wrexham do not want to lose the 31-year-old mid-season. Rohl previously managed Windass at Sheffield Wednesday.
Additionally, Sky Sports also reports that Rangers are targeting Westerlo left-back Tuur Rommens, a nine-time Belgium U21 international. Left-back is a problem position for Rohl, with only Jayden Meghoma available as a natural option for that position.
Rommens, a 22-year-old youth product of Genk, has recorded nine assists and a goal from his left-back position in 78 appearances for Westerlo. However, he has yet to contribute to a goal this season.
