Rangers close in on FIRST January signing
Rangers have reportedly identified Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl as a top target for the January transfer window, with Danny Rohl “very keen” to sign the 20-year-old.
The Norway U21 international has been a regular starter for Tromso over the past two seasons and his form for the Eliteserien side has attracted significant attention from multiple clubs across Europe.
Newly-promoted Premier League outfit Sunderland are one of several English teams keeping close tabs on Hjerto-Dahl’s development, while Rangers have now earmarked him as a possible January signing as they look to strengthen the first-team squad available to Rohl.
The new Rangers boss is expected to be backed in the transfer market next month and TEAMtalk claim that he is “very keen” to bring Hjerto-Dahl to Ibrox.
The Tromso midfielder is reportedly valued at €6 million and with his current contract with his boyhood club due to expire in 2027, he has been tipped to secure a move away next year.
Rangers have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action on a number of occasions in recent months and they have now stepped up their pursuit of his signature amid their desire to finalise a transfer in January.
Jens Hjerto-Dahl to join Rangers?
Hjerto-Dahl is reportedly seen as the ideal candidate to bolster Rangers’ midfield roster, with the Scottish giants preparing for the possible departure of Nicolas Raskin, who has been heavily linked with a departure in 2026.
Furthermore, Joe Rothwell is expected to leave Ibrox in January, amid substantial interest from Sheffield United, and the club are eager to land Hjerto-Dahl as a direct replacement for the former Blackburn Rovers and Bournemouth star.
Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson is also on Rangers’ transfer wishlist for January, but it appears as though they have now identified Hjerto-Dahl as their priority target for the mid-season window.
