Man Utd Transfer News Today: Midfielder deal done as €70m bomb drops
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Adam Wharton, Kobbie Mainoo and Nathaniel Brown.
Man Utd eye €70m-rated full-back
Man Utd are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown, who has had a whopping price tag of up to €70 million slapped on his head by the shrewd Bundesliga outfit.
Frankfurt are said to be '100 per cent' convinced that the 22-year-old will leave the club in the summer, given that the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man Utd are regularly scouting him.
Man Utd's interest in the attack-minded defender is interesting in light of Ruben Amorim saying last week that he wants an a second Amad Diallo for the left side of his wing-back system.
Man Utd miss out on Dabo
Man Utd have surprisingly missed out on Senegal U17 captain Mouhamed Dabo to third-tier Croatian side NK Kustosija despite the midfielder's successful trial in October.
The Red Devils attempted to sign Dabo following his trial stint, but it seems that they could not complete the necessary paperwork, allowing him to pursue a move to Croatia once he turns 18 next spring.
However, the fact that he has joined Kustosija should not be a massive shock, as they have made a name for themselves in recent seasons as a perfect springboard for talent, namely selling Mika Faye to Barcelona in 2023, as well as others to Germany and MLS.
Wharton open to Man Utd - on one condition
Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is keen on returning to the Northwest of England after growing up in Blackburn, making a move to Manchester a distinct possibility.
However, Wharton is at a stage in his career where he feels that his next club must be regularly competing in European competitions, which could prove problematic for Man Utd.
Nevertheless, the 21-year-old remains high on the Red Devils' list of potential midfield reinforcements for 2026, having established himself as a standout performer in the Premier League since joining Palace.
Zirkzee, Mainoo latest
Both Napoli and AS Roma are looking at deals for Man Utd duo Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee with increased urgency, although for very different reasons.
Napoli beat Roma at the weekend to go joint-top of Serie A, but Antonio Conte feels that a deal for Mainoo is needed to bolster his midfield options and sustain this title challenge.
At Roma, meanwhile, Gian Piero Gasperini views Zirkzee as a priority because he believes that his attacking options are wholly inadequate to successfully qualify for the Champions League, let alone to keep pace with new league leaders Milan and Napoli.
