Romano has revealed that Liverpool are making progress with regard contract extensions to two vital players at Anfield.

“Liverpool are entering an important moment,” Fabrizio Romano began. “They’re back to winning form after victories over Aston Villa in the Premier League and Real Madrid in the Champions League.

“Liverpool are also working on new contracts. Talks are progressing with Dominic Szoboszlai and early conversations have already taken place with Ryan Gravenberch.

“Let me be clear – we’re not at the final stages of negotiation with Szoboszlai. There’s no verbal agreement yet, but discussions are ongoing. Liverpool are prepared to improve his salary after his excellent performances.

“Szoboszlai is playing consistently well. Even during Liverpool’s difficult weeks, he remained the standout performer. The club want to move fast to secure his future, and while the deal isn’t done, talks are advancing positively.”

Real Madrid and Lyon pushing to finalise Endrick loan

Romano confirmed that Real Madrid and Lyon’s talks over a loan deal for Endrick are still progressing in an encouraging nature ahead of the January transfer window – and he says there is no truth to a deal linking the Brazilian to Manchester United.

“An exclusive story confirmed everywhere – Endrick to Lyon is progressing,” said Romano. “Lyon are pushing hard to complete the deal with Real Madrid because they feel Endrick wants to join them.

“Rumours about Manchester United or Aston Villa are not true. Endrick’s priority is Lyon – a French club with a Portuguese manager, speaking the same language, and the former home of his idol, Karim Benzema.

“Lyon want him to join and play from 1 January, not later in the month. Both clubs are now discussing loan terms, and my expectation is that this exclusive story will become a reality very soon.

“Lyon are well ahead of the English clubs to sign Endrick on loan.”

Dayot Upamecano yet to agree deal with Real Madrid

On the future of Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano, Romano said there are numerous interested parties.

“I’ve received many questions about Dayot Upamecano,” Romano said. “The Bayern Munich defender has been fantastic, and there are rumours in France about a verbal agreement with Real Madrid.

“What I can tell you is that, as of today, there have been contacts between Upamecano’s agents and several clubs – Real Madrid, English clubs, and Paris Saint-Germain among them. But I’m not aware of any agreement.

“Bayern Munich are pushing to extend his contract. They’ve met with his agents in the last few weeks and plan more meetings soon. Manager Vincent Kompany is also involved in convincing the player to stay.

“So Bayern are not giving up. Real Madrid remain interested and will sign a defender in the summer, but nothing is agreed with Upamecano. We have to wait and follow this story.”

Robert Lewandowski focused on Barcelona despite AC Milan rumours

Recent rumours linking Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski to AC Milan will not unsettle the Pole.

“Reports today link Robert Lewandowski with a January move to AC Milan,” Romano explained. “I can guarantee this is not happening. Lewandowski has been very clear with Barcelona and with his agents: he’s fully focused on this season with Barca.

“As I mentioned in October, the expectation is that Lewandowski and Barcelona will part ways in the summer on a free transfer. But there’s been no formal meeting or communication confirming this.

“For now, Lewandowski is 100% focused on Barcelona. He believes this team can still win important titles and doesn’t want to leave mid-season.

“There are no negotiations or discussions for a January exit. He’s recovering from injury and committed to helping Barca.”

Lionel Messi not considering Galatasaray loan move

Could Lionel Messi make a staggering return to European football in January via a short loan deal? Romano has discussed the possibility.

“In the last 24 hours, there’s been a rumour from Turkey about Galatasaray wanting to sign Lionel Messi on loan from Inter Miami during the MLS break,” Romano said. “But my understanding is that there is nothing serious or concrete in this story.

“Messi is fully focused on Inter Miami. He is not negotiating with Galatasaray or any other club.

“Barcelona president Joan Laporta did say he’d love to give Messi a tribute, maybe for the opening of the new Camp Nou. But that’s not a transfer story – it’s just an idea for the future.

“So, while you can feel the excitement from Turkish fans, there is no negotiation, no discussions – it’s only media talk at this stage.”
