Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Man Utd OFFERED star, Garnacho SHOCK, Donnarumma OPTIMISM
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered updates on headline stories, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City among those clubs in the spotlight.
Eze to Spurs: Deal close
Romano explained that while there is no formal deal between Tottenham and Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze, one is coming. It’s now just a case of ironing out a couple of issues.
On his YouTube channel, he explained: “What I’m hearing is no total agreement between Tottenham and Crystal Palace. The agreement is very close and today there has been contact.
“The agreement will happen, in my personal opinion, Eberechi Eze will go to Tottenham. But, as of tonight, the deal is still not completed. First of all, Crystal Palace want to sign a replacement and secondly, the structure of the deal has not yet been clarified. It’s about details and small things.
“At the moment, there is no contact between Arsenal and the player after they had talks at the end of June, the beginning of July.”
Rodrygo update as Donnarumma deal advances
Romano addressed two key issues at Manchester City. While he says that a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo hangs in the balance, Gianluigi Donnarumma is looking good to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
Rodrygo will only sign for City if Savinho first leaves for Tottenham – and that doesn’t look likely at the moment.
Romano said: “Someone in the board of Manchester City is still blocking this deal for Spurs. They’re not giving up but there’s a big wall from Manchester City.
“As a consequence, everything between Rodrygo and Man City is still quiet. If Savinho doesn’t go to Tottenham, City won’t go for Rodrygo.
“Meanwhile, Rodrygo didn’t start for Real Madrid in the opening game of La Liga. They are playing as I’m recording this video.”
But in the case of the PSG player, a move looks likely.
“On Donnarumma, there is much more optimism on Man City’s side,” Romano added. “I’m still told that Galatasaray are working with Ederson and negotiating with him and his agents. Diogo Costa will not leave Porto for €30m – forget that story – so let’s see what’s going to happen next.
“What I can tell you is that the agreement on personal terms between Manchester City and Donnarumma are almost OK. The contacts are very positive, Donnarumma is attracted by the move.
“Man City signed James Trafford from Burnley this summer but Donnarumma is prepared to go there. The player is super keen to Man City. Now the story depends on Ederson.
“My feeling is that negotiations between PSG and City are advancing quiet well.”
Garnacho transfer twist?
Alejandro Garnacho and Man Utd remain in a deadlock that is unlikely to be broken unless the player leaves.
Romano is tipping the Argentine to complete a move to Chelsea, particularly as Bayern Munich were knocked back.
“My feeling is that Garnacho will go to Chelsea and I maintain my position. I can guarantee to you that this deal is advancing. Manchester United and Chelsea are talking. The CEO of Man Utd Omar Berrada has a good relationship with the hierarchy of Chelsea. Conversations are underway over the transfer fee – there is a gap.
“In the last 48 hours, Bayern called Garnacho’s camp but were told: ‘Thanks, but I only want to go to Chelsea.’
“For Garnacho, it’s very clear: he will not go to any other club. Either he goes to Chelsea, or he stays at Man Utd, even if he’s out of the squad. For him, it’s OK. Stay there, train and see what happens.
“We know that his relationship with Man Utd is completely broken, so it’s Chelsea or nothing.”
Xavi Simons deal stuck?
Will Chelsea be able to unblock their deal for Xavi Simons before the end of the transfer window? It looks touch-and-go, according to Romano.
He explains: “Nkunku is very important to unlock Xavi Simons to Chelsea. There’s still a conversation ongoing with Bayern but there’s a big difference on the formula. Bayern are only giving a green light to a loan for Nkunku, but Chelsea want a permanent transfer. RB Leipzig could rejoin the race and Chelsea feel that maybe more clubs could be interested. Let’s see what happens with Inter if the Lookman deal collapses. Something interesting here will happen.”
Rabiot offered to Man Utd as Marseille kick him out
France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot is set to be offered to Manchester United and others, with Marseille booting him out following a dressing room clash with England U21 winger Jon Rowe following a 1-0 loss to Rennes on Friday.
Romano says: “There was this tense situation at Marseille that led to the club putting Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe out of the squad. Rabiot is no longer part of Roberto De Zerbi’s squad and is available. Marseille even released an official statement to say he’s up for sale. They want something like €15-20m to let him leave.
“He was a target for Man Utd many years ago but in recent years was never very close. I’m not hearing any concrete about them being in negotiations or talks for Rabiot. He’s going to be offered to Man Utd and many other clubs as an opportunity. But it’s an open situation.
“I think United wanted to go for Carlos Baleba for his intensity. Rabiot is a different profile.”
