Garnacho HIJACK? Romano drops huge Chelsea update after fresh approach
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has rejected an approach from Bayern Munich amid ongoing talks over a move to Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Argentina international is patiently waiting for an agreement to leave Man Utd after being axed by Ruben Amorim. Chelsea and the Red Devils have been in continuous contact over a move for Garnacho, but there has yet to be a breakthrough.
Chelsea had already wanted to sign the 21-year-old in January but balked at Man Utd's asking price. It is a similar story so far this summer as there remains a significant gap in valuation.
Man Utd desperately need funds for new incomings and want to secure a fee north of $58 million for Garnacho, who currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of $69.8m.
Chelsea, however, are trying to negotiate a cut-price deal as they are operating from a position of strength. Garnacho is keen on the move, and there is a belief that Man Utd's banishment of the winger has depreciated his value. The Blues want to pay no more than $46m for him.
Garnacho rejects Bayern
Personal terms between Garnacho and Chelsea are not an issue. On the contrary, the Argentine is unequivocal in his desire to join Chelsea, and is even prepared to wait until January or next summer if no agreement can be struck before the deadline.
As a result, Garnacho has made it clear to all his other suitors that he will not engage with them, and Bayern are the latest club to receive this response from the youngster.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga champions made an approach for him 'in the past 48 hours,' only to be rebuffed. The transfer insider states that there is 'no chance' of Garnacho going anywhere but Chelsea this summer.
Romano adds that fresh talks between Man Utd and the Blues have yielded some progress, although there is still no agreement. It is also understood that Chelsea first need some sales before they can finalize the acquisition of Garnacho.
