Chelsea and Manchester United are 'weighing up' an informal swap deal for Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku, according to a report.

Both players are on the outside looking in at their respective clubs and are looking to be on the move this summer. Garnacho was recently told by Ruben Amorim to find a new employer for himself.

Nkunku, meanwhile, is desperate to get out of Chelsea after failing to establish himself as a regular starter. Both players were on the market in January, but neither managed to secure a transfer brought about by the fact that both were given €70 million price tags.

Already in the winter, Chelsea were interested in Garnacho, while Man Utd held talks with Nkunku very early in the window. At the time, there were some rumours about a potential swap deal being on the cards.

These rumours are now starting to resurface amid reports from France that Man Utd have reignited their interest in Nkunku.

Garnacho-Nkunku swap deal?

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea and Man Utd are 'weighing up' whether both players heading in opposite directions would be beneficial for all involved, although it would not formally be a swap deal.

The two moves would be individual transactions for accounting purposes, but the move would essentially be a player trade. As things stand, however, such a deal is only an idea being floated rather than an imminent reality.

The report acknowledges that there have been no talks regarding such a deal yet, while Chelsea also remain interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, for whom fresh negotiations are expected to take place shortly.

That said, signing Gittens would not rule out a move for Garnacho, with the Blues needing to replace both the banned Mykhailo Mudryk and Jadon Sancho, who has returned to Man Utd following his loan.

As for the Red Devils, it is claimed that their recruitment chief Christopher Vivell could have a massive role to play in luring Nkunku to Old Trafford. The German was RB Leipzig's technical director when the Frenchman's move to Chelsea was brokered.
