Arteta 'CONVINCED' on Rodrygo transfer as Arsenal pursue Real Madrid star

Arsenal could emerge as frontrunners to sign Rodrygo this summer, with Mikel Arteta ‘convinced’ the Real Madrid star could have a big role in their attack if he joined.
Rodrygo’s future at Real has been thrown into doubt after a disappointing campaign which has seen the 24-year-old’s importance to the squad come into question.
The Brazilian will not make a decision over his plans until speaking to incoming new manager Xabi Alonso, with Rodrygo keen to gain assurances over his standing in the team while also stressing his desire to play on the left wing instead of centrally or on the right.
The Athletic have elaborated on the speculation around Rodrygo, claiming that the forward has been approached through intermediaries by a number of clubs, with Arsenal said to ‘feel he can add another dimension’ to their frontline.
However, the Gunners are also interested in Nico Williams and Anthony Gordon, although all three players are likely to command significant financial packages.
Teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with Rodrygo and, with Real likely to command a fee in excess of €90 million, the Premier League appears to be the most feasible destination for the winger if he is to leave.
Arsenal transfer could prove to be perfect solution for disillusioned Rodrygo
Rodrygo made just 22 starts in La Liga last season, scoring six goals and grabbing five assists, although his last domestic goal contribution came in January.
The decline in Rodrygo’s form saw his minutes eventually decrease, leading to the player being forced to consider whether he would still be considered with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior as Real’s star players.

Rodrygo’s desire to play on the left wing could further push him to the exit door, with Mbappe and Vini Jr also keen on that role, and Real are not thought to be against his departure.
A move to Arsenal may prove to be the most suitable outcome, with Arteta keen to add pedigree, quality and versatility to his attacking unit, although much will depend on the fee as well as Rodrygo’s conversations with Alonso in the coming weeks.
