Jamie Gittens close to Chelsea

Romano has confirmed a report from David Ornstein that states Chelsea are on the verge of signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

He posted on X: “Despite links with Bayern, Chelsea are close to completing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens deal!

“Understand direct meeting with Borussia Dortmund took place on Monday. Chelsea maintain a 7 year deal agreement with JBG who wants the move. Talks underway again between the two clubs.”

Here We Go x2

In his latest YouTube video, Romano also delved into a number of topics, including two confirmed transfers.

“I wanted to start with a ‘here we go’ for Tottenham because they have signed a new centre-back for the future - Kota Takai,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“He is joining from the J-League for £5 million. He is a player for the first-team for the new coach Thomas Frank.”

Romano also confirmed another ‘here we go’ - with Roony Bardghi joining Barcelona from Copenhagen.

Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal

Meanwhile, the transfer expert revealed that AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez is close to completing a move to Saudi Arabia.

Romano explained: “Theo Hernandez is going to Al-Hilal - the agreement is almost done. We’re just waiting for some final details, but he is about to leave European football and join Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of around €30m.

“The player is ready to receive an important salary and it was crucial that the president of Al-Hilal was leading the negotiations to get the final green light from Hernandez - a player strongly wanted by Simone Inzaghi.

“Let’s wait for those final details to close the deal and then Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal will be ‘here we go’.”

Mason Mount truth

Mason Mount has endured a tough two-year spell at Manchester United, however Romano has reaffirmed the Englishman’s desire to remain at Old Trafford.

“Today we had stories about Mason Mount maybe leaving Man Utd and maybe being involved in a swap deal this summer,” Romano said. “What I can tell you, as of now, is that Mount’s clear intention is to stay at Man Utd.

“He is planning on having an important pre-season, being fully fit and working under Ruben Amorim - who always showed his full confidence in the player during his first season.

“Obviously, it’s about being fit and ready, but the intention of Mount is to stay at Man Utd.”

Alejandro Garnacho-Christopher Nkunku swap deal

Recent reports suggest that Chelsea and Man Utd could be set to agree a swap deal involving Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku, but Romano has downplayed such rumours.

He told his YouTube channel: “I am getting many questions about a potential swap deal between Chelsea and Man Utd involving Christopher Nkunku and Alejandro Garnacho. What’s the situation?

“First of all, this story started in December when Man Utd were interested in Nkunku and Chelsea were looking for a winger, with Garnacho an option. But, the deal was never close to happening in January because Chelsea had different priorities and Man Utd were only interested in signing Nkunku on loan.

“Nkunku didn’t want to go on loan and Chelsea also only wanted a permanent transfer. This is why the deal didn’t happen.”

Romano added: “What’s going on now? The two clubs are aware of the situation of the two players. Man Utd know Nkunku is available and Chelsea know Garnacho is available. It’s a similar situation that could make sense for the two clubs - this is why we have rumours.

“As of now, concrete negotiations between Chelsea and Man Utd for Garnacho and Nkunku are still not taking place. There is no club-to-club contact and there are no personal terms agreed between any party.”

Rodrygo to Arsenal update

Finally, Romano also provided a key update regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.

“I am told the situation hasn’t changed. The first point is that Arsenal love Rodrygo - the management and Mikel Arteta. He is a dream target, especially as they believe Nico Williams is impossible to reach this summer.

“But, the only way to make the Rodrygo deal happen is Rodrygo himself. The only way is if he goes to Xabi Alonso and tells him: ‘I want to leave the club.’

“If Rodrygo decides to go, doors for Arsenal to negotiate could be opened, but Real Madrid will not inform Arsenal on a fixed price [as things stand]. There is interest from Arsenal, but no concrete negotiations.”
