Chelsea will reportedly make a final decision on whether to sign Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal before the end of next week.

The 25-year-old spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Stamford Bridge after falling out with the Man Utd hierarchy and the deal included an obligation to buy clause worth a reported €30 million.

However, Chelsea have the option to cancel this agreement by paying a €6m penalty fee to Man Utd if they are unable to finalise terms with Sancho.

The ex-England international could reportedly be reintegrated at Old Trafford if he returns to the club this summer, although Chelsea may yet decide to purchase him on a permanent deal.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Chelsea remain in contact with Jadon Sancho’s camp over contract terms, still no agreement on salary so far.

“Final decision will be in [a] few days, outcome expected next week. If contract terms are not agreed, Sancho will go back to Manchester United with £5m (€6m) compensation.”

Sancho scored five goals in 41 appearances for Chelsea during the 2024-25 season, including a fantastic finish against Real Betis in the Europa Conference League final last Wednesday.

Who will Chelsea sign this summer?

Even if Chelsea sign Sancho on a permanent deal this summer, they are still expected to purchase another new right-footed left winger amid Mykhailo Mudryk’s ongoing doping suspension.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Nico Williams have been identified as the club’s three primary targets for this role, and the former is reportedly pushing to secure a Stamford Bridge switch after being told to find a new club by Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim.

Chelsea are also targeting a new central defender, with Marc Guehi, Jorrel Hato and Jarrad Branthwaite all under consideration, while they are on the verge of formally announcing the arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
