Man Utd given €40m reason to make EASY Emi Martinez transfer decision

Manchester United have been told to pay an astronomical fee if they are to sign Emi Martinez from Aston Villa this summer.
The Red Devils are rumoured to have already lodged a bid for the World Cup winner, with reports from Argentina claiming that Man Utd and Barcelona have both presented the 32-year-old keeper with a proposal.
Now TalkSport indicates that the Old Trafford side have learned the price they will have to pay to prise Martinez away from Aston Villa.
Emi Martinez asking price revealed
Man Utd have been told that Martinez will only leave Aston Villa for €47.5 million (£40m).
They face potential competition from Atletico Madrid for ‘El Dibu’, who came through the ranks of Arsenal.
Although Martinez still has four years left to run on his Aston Villa contract, which expires in 2029, this is an astronomical asking price for the keeper.
FootballTransfers’ algorithm indicates that the Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of the keeper is just €17.5m, which is almost exactly the price that the Birmingham club bought him for from Arsenal.
Although the Yashin Trophy winner, Martinez’s ETV has never climbed significantly above €40m.
Onana rates better
Martinez has had a comparatively difficult season by his high standards. He rates only 12th among Premier League goalkeepers in terms of save percentage with 67.9%. The South American is also 26th of 43 when it comes to PSxG-GA, which is a metric that measures a goalkeeper’s ability based on the quality of shot taken.
Current Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, though guilty of some high-profile errors, actually rates better than Martinez in both of these key metrics.
Based on Martinez’s statistics and Aston Villa’s asking price, Man Utd would be well advised to sit this one out.

Martinez | Onana | |
Games | 35 | 34 |
Goals Against | 45 | 44 |
