Man Utd submit opening offer for Emiliano Martinez

Manchester United have reportedly submitted an opening offer to Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez amid their pursuit of a replacement for Andre Onana this summer.
Ruben Amorim’s side are actively seeking a new shot-stopper ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window and they have identified a number of players across Europe as legitimate targets.
James Trafford, Lucas Chevalier, Aaron Ramsdale, Diogo Costa and Senne Lammens have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, while they have now added Martinez to their transfer wish-list.
That is according to DSports, who claim that Man Utd and Barcelona have both presented the Argentina international with offers to leave Aston Villa this summer.
Emiliano Martinez to join Man Utd?
Martinez still has four years remaining on his current contract at Villa Park, having signed a new deal last August, but he was in tears following the club’s final home match of the season on Friday night and this has intensified speculation over a summer exit.
The 32-year-old is the reigning Yashin Trophy winner, awarded to the best goalkeeper in world football, and Man Utd reportedly view him as a player capable of replacing Onana in between the sticks at Old Trafford.

Onana, 29, has endured a tough spell at Man Utd following his move from Inter Milan in 2023 and Amorim has identified the goalkeeper position as a key area to strengthen during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have reportedly identified Espanyol star Joan Garcia as a possible replacement for Martinez, although they will face significant competition from Arsenal in the race to land his signature.
Garcia boasts the sixth-best save percentage in La Liga so far this season (75%), while he has kept seven clean sheets in the Spanish top flight this term.
